The opening batsman of India, Murali Vijay has revealed that he admires Yuvraj Singh as a cricketer in his career. He is currently preparing himself for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka starting from November 16. It will also mark his comeback in the whites for the national side after enduring a long run without cricket since the Tests against Australia earlier this year. However, he also likes the South African trio of AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock for the way they approach the game.
Vijay sustained a wrist injury during the longest ever home season of India and last played in Dharamshala in the deciding Test match against the Aussies. But then he missed the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) which followed soon after and then Sri Lanka tour. Though now he has geared himself up with a brilliant knock of 140 for Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season against Odisha.
I like our entire top five
Murali Vijay opened up on the cricketers he has ever admired in his international career during an interview to DNA India. He praised Yuvraj and revealed that he was fascinated by his talent at the very early stage of his career. He also hailed the skill sets of the Indian batting order and termed that everyone is a different character which helps the team a lot. “I have always been great Yuvraj Singh fan. When I started playing cricket, he was 22 or 23. I was always fascinated by his talent, the way he strikes the ball. I am still a Yuvi admirer and will always be for the way he really plays his game,” he said of Yuvi who is striving hard to return to the team.
“At the moment, I like our entire top five. They are different characters, their batting quality is high. Batting together in partnerships, the way they approach each game, everybody has his own skill set. I admire our top five. I also like AB de Villiers the way he approaches the game. Quinton de Kock and obviously, Hashim Amla,” he added.
