Murali Vijay back in Test fold as BCCI name squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka

The Indian squad for the first two Test matches against Sri Lanka and the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand has been announced by the BCCI. Youngster Shreyas Iyer has been included in the T20I squad along with pacer Mohammed Shiraj. The 16-man squad has been named in Mumbai. Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra has been selected for the 1st T20I game at Delhi’s Ferozshah Kotla on November 1, it will be the farewell game for the 38-year old.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be visiting India for a 3-match Test series, starting November 16. Skipper Virat Kohli will once again lead the side, and the squad will feature the likes of opener Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay (back from injury), Ajinkya Rahane among the others. Spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are back in the fold after missing out from limited overs cricket in the recent past.

The duo was excluded from the limited overs squad for the away tour against the Lankans and were not named for the series against Australia. Young sensation Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal took the charge and were impressive in the limited opportunities which they have received so far. Kuldeep has also been named in the squad for the home Test series and it will be a challenge for all the three- Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep to stay afloat.
