Murali Vijay is not giving the true picture: BCCI official
A meeting is set to take place on October 10, Wedneday.
Recently, cricketers like Murali Vijay and Karun Nair have lashed out at the selectors, saying that the management hasn’t made appropriate communications to them. Both were left out of the Test squad against Windies after the five-match series against England, which India lost 1-4. Vijay played the first two matches at Edgbaston and Lord’s but was dropped from the squad thereafter.
On the other hand, Karun Nair hasn’t played a single match ever since he made a comeback during India’s historic Test against Afghanistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. He was benched for six consecutive encounters after which he was unceremoniously left out for the ongoing red-ball fixtures. However, MSK Prasad, the chief selector, has denied the allegations.
The issues that would be discussed
In the meantime, the Committee off Administrators (CoA) is scheduled to meet Indian captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri along with the selection panel on Wednesday. The issues surrounding the communication between the players and selectors, and the roadmap for the Australia tour later this year will be the matters of discussions during the meeting.
“Obviously, the matter will be raised at the meeting. The BCCI has maintained that Vijay is not giving the true picture. Gandhi explained the position of selectors to Vijay in presence of team manager Sunil Subramanium,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in Sportskeeda.
India are scheduled to play Australia in three T20Is, four Tests and three ODIs, starting November 21. However, the main discussion is expected to be centered around the red-ball fixtures, which has been a major concern for India for quite a while now.
Last time around, India toured Australia and lost the series 2-0 following defeats in Adelaide and Brisbane respectively. After a dismal campaign on English soil, Virat Kohli and Co would dearly want to put their best foot forward against the might of the Aussies.
