Bangladesh Test team skipper, Mushfiqur Rahim has lashed out at the owner of the franchise he plays for in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The owner of the team, MA Aoual Chowdhury had previously made a disrespectful statement regarding Rahim. However, the player has come back strongly and claimed that he deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
The 29-year old wicketkeeper-batsman plays for the team, Barisal Bulls in the BPL. He has been a consistent name in the Bangladesh national side across all three formats and has been one of their key players in the years of their redemption. Notably, Rahim has 5 and 4 centuries to his name in Test matches and ODIs respectively.
What was said against Mushfiqur?
The franchise owner of Barisal Bulls, Chowdhury, accused Rahim strongly of not having a proper sense of responsibility. He also made it clear through his statement that the team was no longer interested in retaining the right-handed batsman for the upcoming season of the BPL.
Mushfiqur’s strong reply
He struck down the allegations made by Chowdhury and argued with a statement while clarifying his stance. As reported by BDCrictime, the batsman said, “I have been playing cricket since 17 years and international cricket since 12 years. I think I deserve some respect being a senior member of the national team. A team owner can comment on my performance. But he can’t say that I don’t have responsibility or I can’t motivate the players or I can’t talk in the team meeting.”
“I think Mallik bhai, Sujan bhai and the the players know well about me as well as what I am capable of doing. It really hurts hearing such statements from him (Barisal Bulls owner),” Mushfiqur further added.
“That’s why I have informed our guardians (BCB officials) and now they will look into it. Today it was happened to me and it can happen to the other players too,” he concluded.
