The only active player close to the record is his current teammate Shakib al Hasan who has played 73 ODIs also at Mirpur. Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene (71 matches at the R. Premadasa Stadium), and Tamim Iqbal (Mirpur) are some other players who feature in the list having played 71 matches.

Another Bangladeshi is also inching towards an important milestone. Attacking opener Tamim Iqbal has scored 4,948 runs and needs another 52 runs to become the first Bangladesh player to reach the 5,000 runs milestone.
Bangladesh was shell – shocked in the first ODI of the three-match series England snatched a close win. The hosts despite being well-placed at 271 for 4, in a chase of 310, lost the remaining six wickets for just 17 runs and hand over England an impressive come-from-behind win.
The second game is vital for the hosts. A loss in the upcoming game would mean they would lose the series and also end their impeccable record at home. The 2nd game will be a high-intensity affair and fans can expect an intense competition tomorrow.
