The Big Bash League could well see the second player from Bangladesh to feature in the tournament. Mustafizur Rahman is emerging out to be the name in demand among all the seven participating teams. All seven teams have to sign two overseas players. Only Melbourne Stars have finalized their 2 overseas players in Luke Wright and Kevin Pietersen.

Their rival Melbourne Renegades are hoping to rope in Bangladesh’s bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman. Renegades Director Tom Moody is currently the coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad – the team where Rahman is playing his trade at the moment in the IPL. Hence, Moody is expected to be a big influence on the bowler’s selection. “To be fair, we probably need an overseas bowler,” quoted the Renegades coach David Saker.

Defending Champions Sydney Thunder are also taking a close look at his performances in the ongoing IPL. Their team manager Mike Hussey, who is working as an IPL commentator, has shown interest in Rahman. The Thunders are expected to sign Andre Russell as their second overseas player. Mustafizur, if picked by the Thunder, will replace Jacques Kallis in their team.

Perth Scorchers have two places vacant as well and might look to bolster their bowling lineup. Hobart, Adelaide and Brisbane can sign one more international each. The young fast bowler has a canny ability to bowl yorkers, slower balls and the cutters which are hard for the batsmen to comprehend. In the current season of the IPL, he is the most economical bowler so far.

More importantly, he is playing under the leadership of David Warner, another Aussie who is closely monitoring him. Warner is all praise for the young left-armer. “He’s a special talent and Bangladesh should be privileged to have him. He’s a world-class player and he’s proved himself here at the moment,” Warner had quoted talking about Rahman.
