Mustafizur Rahman likely to miss the Test series against Windies
The Test squad will leave for Windies on June 23.
Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman missed the recently concluded T20 International series against Afghanistan due to the toe injury. His services were missed by his team as they were whitewashed comprehensively in Dehradun. Their next assignment is the two-match Test series against Windies where they will also play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. However, Mustafizur is likely to miss the tussle in the Carribean nation in the whites which is set to commence on July 4.
The Test squad will leave Bangladesh on June 23 and will play a two-day practice match in Antigua at Stanford Cricket Ground. Mustafizur’s career has been prone to injuries and recently damaged his toe during the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI). The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) were not impressed with the way he handled his injury.
Will he be fit for the second Test?
Mustafizur Rahman is currently going through the rehabilitation process as he is recovering from his toe injury. But it looks like he will miss the Test tour. If at all everything goes to the plan, he might be fit just in time for the second Test match against Windies. But it also remains to be seen, the team management will play him without any match practice.
“I am going through the rehabilitation process and trying to follow the instruction that is required to complete the entire programme. It’s been three weeks and now I am doing quite well,” Mustafizur was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. The fast bowler also went on to say that it is frustrating for him to get injured time and again but also accepted the fact that it is the parcel of the game and there is no point in fretting over the same.
“No one wants to get injured but that is part and parcel of professional sports. Perhaps all these injuries are written on my fate and I don’t have any control on it. Naturally, I am regretting it but other than that there is nothing more I can do because for me playing and remaining fit is a topmost priority,” he added.
