Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara stands in support of his former teammate Muttiah Muralitharan in the ongoing row between him and the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

Sangakkara feels that the former off-spinner is free to coach any team he deems fit. He also pointed out that, if Sri Lankan cricket had asked him to coach the side Murali would certainly have accepted the offer.

SLC had lodged a complaint with Cricket Australia (CA) stating that the former off-spinner had some heated exchanges with the Sri Lankan team manager.

Sangakkara took on social platform Twitter to express his views. He wrote, “Murali is a great son of Sri Lanka and he doesn’t have to defend himself. He love his country. He is free to consult or coach anyone. If SLC had ever asked him to coach Sri Lanka he always will. His consultancy with anyone is a way he can give back to the game. He has given his best to his country on the field and off.”

“He is always available for his country all they have to do is ask. We should be proud of him if any Sri Lankan spinner walks up to Muri and asks him about bowling he will be the first to spend as much time as needed to help. Free. If there are any major issues I am sure that @cricketsrilanka can sit with Murali and iron them out,” he added.

Muralitharan is the most successful bowler in Test cricket and is considered to be the most effective and dangerous spinners in the cricket history along with the Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne.
