Muttiah Muralitharan shares bowling tricks with Yusuf Pathan

All-rounder, Yusuf Pathan seems to have found a new mentor in the form of Muttiah Muralitharan. Pathan, who’ll be playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise instead of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side in IPL 2018, was spotted in the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad ahead of the tournament. Muralitharan is serving as the bowling coach of the SRH side.

IPL 2018 is all set to kick off the proceedings in another 3 days time. Followed by a glamorous opening ceremony, the first game of the tournament will be played between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 7. SRH have their first match scheduled to be played on April 9 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Hyderabad have previously won the IPL trophy in 2016 after defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the finals.

Muttiah Muralitharan mentors Yusuf Pathan

As reported by Sportstar Live, Muralitharan was spotted having animated discussions with Pathan in the middle of the pitch at the Hyderabad stadium on Monday. Apparently, the Sri Lankan spin legend was demonstrating several off-spin tips and tricks to Pathan. Muralitharan’s younger son, who was seen bowling, surprised quite a few with his uncanny bowling action resemblance to that of his father. Unfortunately for the side, there have been heavy rains in the city for the past few days, forcing the players to opt for indoor practice on Sunday. Tom Moody will be acting as head coach for the side this time around, assisted by bowling coach, Muralitharan and mentor, V.V.S Laxman.

SRH have been plagued with trouble with their original skipper, David Warner having to step down from his post after being embroiled in the infamous ball-tampering fiasco.

Since Warner has been banned by Cricket Australia (CA), he’d be unable to play in the IPL, thus forcing the SRH side to hunt for a replacement. Kane Williamson has been recently named as the captain of the Hyderabad side and is expected to join the team, along with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shortly.
