Rishi Dhawan, the Punjab Kings all-rounder, has expressed his wish of returning to the Indian national team. The 32-year-old all-rounder guided Himachal Pradesh to their first Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year. He was also in terrific form with the bat and ball and was even in contention to get picked during India’s home season. Dhawan was then roped in by PBKS in the mega auction as he made a return to the IPL after a gap of five long years.

He has used the opportunities to his best and has emerged as a good pick for PBKS. The pacer has scalped four wickets in as many games and has a good economy rate of 7.92. He has also contributed with the bat in crucial moments in the game and is having a great time at the IPL 2022.

“I am a senior player on the team. My aim will be to put my experience into play and perform well to get back into the national team,” Dhawan told NDTV Sports. He has not been with the national team for long and has represented the country in only three ODIs and one T20I.

Rishi Dhawan also spoke about how the bowlers need to adapt to the conditions on regular basis, and how tough it becomes for them. He thanked his coaches to have helped him in judging the playing conditions and improving his game.

“In a tournament like the IPL, it’s difficult to make technical adjustments. But our coaches tell me to read the match situation and that has really helped me. To assess the playing conditions is a great task and I am learning to get better at it. I also talk with Kagiso Rabada a lot. And he tells me to focus on my strengths,” he added.

Arshdeep and Harpreet create a fun-filled atmosphere in the team: Dhawan

The Punjab Kings retained only two players before the mega auction this year and their picks were skipper Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh. Thus, they roped in a bunch of new faces on the side and started the campaign fresh. While speaking of the youngsters in the side, and when asked who was the funniest of them all, Dhawan said:

“If you speak about funny guys in our team, we have two in Arshdeep Singh and Harpreet Brar. The duo creates a fun-filled atmosphere in the team. They always crack jokes and entertain the team a lot. Chup nahi hote kabhi bhi (they never keep quiet).”
