Aaron Finch was added as the Kolkata Knight Riders’ replacement player after England opener Alex Hales had backed out of IPL 2022 at the very last minute citing bubble fatigue. However, he missed a few games as he was captaining the Australian team in the limited-overs series in Pakistan that concluded on April 5.
Meanwhile, Aaron Finch himself has gone on to say that his IPL 2022 has been full of hit and miss so far having personally analyzed his performance. Apart from his valiant half-century against the Rajasthan Royals a couple of weeks ago, the T20 World Cup-winning skipper’s performances have not been up to the mark.
You have to be honest with yourself to be successful in T20s: Aaron Finch
“My game has been a hit and a miss so far. I am focusing on trying to hit straight and stay on a bit longer. I work with David Hussey, Brendon McCullum and get an honest feedback. T20 is a brutal game for batters and bowlers and you have to be honest with yourself to be successful,” said Aaron Finch while speaking on Star Sports.
The Australian white-ball captain has so far registered scores of 7, 58, 3, and 4 respectively. His inconsistency on the 22 yards meant that the Kolkata team management had no choice but to experiment with various combinations in the top order. Meanwhile, the two-time winners who were the table-toppers at one point in time slipped down drastically in the points table having lost five consecutive matches.
While Finch did get a chance to feature in the ongoing game against the Rajasthan Royals, he disappointed yet again by walking back to the dugout scoring just four runs from seven deliveries after being bowled by emerging bowler Kuldeep Sen. With the senior batter having showcased yet another underwhelming performance, it now remains to be seen whether he will get another opportunity or will be warming the bench in the next encounter.
