David Warner has been in red-hot form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as the southpaw, on Wednesday (April 20), brought up his third successive half-century of the season. The dashing opener dismantled the Punjab Kings bowling attack and scored an unbeaten 60 off just 30 deliveries. Notably, it was the very same track where PBKS were bundled out for 115 while batting first.
However, Warner hardly had any trouble against the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar. Riding on his efforts, DC crossed the line in just 10.3 overs, clinching the contest by nine wickets. Needless to mention, Warner was a happy man at the end as he lauded his teammates for their contribution. On a lighter note, the southpaw also revealed that his daughters wonder why he can’t smash centuries like Jos Buttler.
“My kids just want to know why I cannot get hundred like Jos (Buttler) does. It’s great that the little ones keep going around the world keep watching this game,” Warner told Star Sports after the conclusion of the contest. Notably, Buttler, who serves Rajasthan Royals, has smashed two centuries this season and is currently holding the orange cap with 375 runs.
Bowlers did a fantastic job and made it easier for us: David Warner
One of the finest batters in the history of the IPL, Warner parted ways with Sunrisers Hyderabad on a sour note following the conclusion of the last season. Nonetheless, the 35-year-old has found a new home at Delhi Capitals and he must be pretty pleased with his performance so far in the competition. Meanwhile, Warner credited DC bowlers for making his task easier against PBKS.
“I think the bowlers did a fantastic job and made it easier for us. We had to go hard in the powerplay during the chase. It was a different surface compared to the last night, but credit to our bowlers. Was grateful that we were able to get out of our rooms and play tonight (Wednesday).
Warner’s opening partner Prithvi Shaw was equally destructive against PBKS as he scored 41 off just 20 balls. In fact, DC added 81 runs in the powerplay, the highest for any team in this tournament so far.
