All-rounder Hardik Pandya is quite clear on his ambitions for the upcoming IPL 2022 as the former was last seen in action in the T20 World Cup 2021. The Baroda lad was recently appointed the skipper of the Ahmedabad franchise and was retained for 15 Crores along with Rashid Khan(15Cr) and Shubman Gill(8Cr) as the other two picks. Hardik’s injury concerns have been a problem for India of late as he had been providing the right balance for a long time now

The 28-year-old did not have the best of times in IPL 2021 and looked totally out of touch with the bat. He hasn’t bowled regularly enough as well and India has looked out for backup options already in the form of Venkatesh Iyer. This will be the first time he will captaining a side in IPL and the extra responsibility could well bring the best out of him. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place this year in the month of October with the fixtures released two weeks back.

‘I want to win the World Cup’ – Hardik Pandya

Pandya was recently questioned about looking at IPL 2022 as his comeback platform and he agreed to the statement immediately. He noted that he aspires to win the T20 World Cup for India and mentioned training hard and getting ready in time for the big event this year.

‘Yes, that’s the plan. My main aim is to be at my peak when the World Cup happens. All my training, planning, preparation is keeping the World Cup in mind. I want to win the World Cup for the country. It will make me really happy and proud. It is like an obsession with me. IPL will give me a very good preparatory platform for the World Cup but all the hard work ultimately is for the Indian team and the World Cup.’ Hardik was quoted as saying by Economic times

The IPL 2022 is scheduled to get underway on April 2nd with ten teams battling it out for the first time since 2010. The franchises have named their retentions while the remaining players have set their base prices for the mega auction on February 12 and 13.
