Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan is deemed as one of the greatest in the business across the world. The wrist-spinner has developed himself as one of the most demanding bowlers in the T20 leagues. He leaves no stone unturned in flaunting his class even in IPL with his franchise SRH. However, Khan is currently in Abu Dhabi to ply his trade for Lahore Qalandars in the remaining edition of the Pakistan Super League.

Khan recently opened up in an interview and stated how he worked hard to take up cricket as a profession where his family wanted him to be a doctor. He added that since no one is a doctor in their family, his parents wanted him to be one and he was never even allowed to play cricket.

I was pretty good at studies too: Rashid Khan

“I wasn’t allowed to play cricket as such. There were no doctors in our family that is why my parents wanted me to become a doctor. Cricket wasn’t in my initial plans and I had to struggle a lot for it. I was pretty good at studies too and I used to go for matches without telling anyone,” said Khan in an interview with Pakistan journalist Sawera Pasha.

Khan further stated how he never went to any club or academy as a part of his training to enhance his skills while he entered the profession. He believes that it is his ‘natural game’ that has helped him to excel well in his career. The spinner believes that being natural helped him a lot to grow.

I never went to any academy or club reckoned the wrist-spinner

“I never went to any academy or club. My friends used to take me to matches and I started performing regularly with both bat and ball. As far as my early training is concerned, I never went to a club or an academy and I haven’t received any coaching as well. I was completely natural and it helped me progress as a player,” he concluded.
