'My respect for him is still intact' - Ravi Ashwin gives clarification for his tweet over David Warner after TikTok ban
'What will Warner do now?' Ashwin had asked after TikTok was banned in India.
The Government of India, on Sunday evening, decided to ban 59 Chinese Apps including the most popular one, TikTok. It is well known that Australia cricketer David Warner is extremely fond of the app. He literally spent the whole lockdown on it recording the videos while dancing and enacting on the famous Bollywood and Tollywood songs and dialogues.
With the recent ban on TikTok, while Warner can continue making videos, his Indian fans won’t be able to see those. This led to India off-spinner Ravi Ashwin taking a hilarious dig at the southpaw. But he ended up disappointing one of Indian cricket followers who is a Warner’s fan.
After the news of ban on TikTok along with other 58 Chinese Apps went viral, Ashwin took to this official Twitter to ask David Warner what will he do now. “Appo Anwar @davidwarner31,” he wrote in his tweet. The tweet was in Tamil and it roughly translates to: what David Warner is going to do now?
‘You were not raised properly,’ – Fan says to Ravi Ashwin
But this tweet from Ravi Ashwin didn’t go down well with a fan as he questioned how the Indian off-spinner was raised. “You were not raised properly,” the fan commented. It was certainly a friendly banter and the question of how Ashwin was raised shouldn’t have emerged at all. But the 33-year-old cricketer kept his cool and responded politely to the fan stating that his respect for David Warner is still intact.
He also added that it is just a friendly banter between them and his tweet can be easily taken out of context. “It’s a light hearted banter in Tamil. Can be so easily missed due to context and language barrier. I appreciate you being a @davidwarner31 fan, my respect for him is still intact. Tc,” Ravi Ashwin wrote.
As far as David Warner is concerned, his TikTok videos went viral like anything during the last three months. He started tapping his feet on Katrina Kaif’s ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ song and then also danced on popular Telugu songs of actors Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu thereby increasing his fan base in South India.
