IPL 10 season has been badly hit by injuries with several of the Indian stars missing the tournament for varying, while some have been ruled out of the tournament completely. Star names missing would certainly take the sheen off the most decorated T20 league in the world but it also serves as an opportunity for youngsters to get a taste of the league and get the chance to rub shoulders with the best in the world. One of those lucky ones who might get a chance to be part of this extravaganza can be Tamil Nadu’s N. Jagadeesan, who hopes to replace KL Rahul for RCB.
N. Jagadeesan who is a wicketkeeper by trade has been a part of trials for Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians in past seasons of the league without much success, but he would hope to be third time lucky ahead of the trials to be KL Rahul’s replacement for RCB.
His confidence would be on a high after a decent domestic season which started with an impressive performance in the TNPL which in turn got him a look into the Tamil Nadu side for Ranji Trophy. The 21-year-old scored a century on his Ranji debut for his state and an IPL call-up would make it a perfect season for him.
Having scored 3 half-centuries for Tamil Nadu in the recently concluded Deodhar Trophy, N. Jagadeesan would surely be in a confident frame of mind coming into trials. But he doesn’t want to think too ahead of himself and wants to avoid taking the undue pressure. He hopes that right things will happen for him if he is up to the task.
Jagadeesan seemed quite happy with his state’s success in Vijay Hazare trophy and Deodhar trophy and also took the opportunity to praise Tamil Nadu’s coach Kanitkar and rest of the support staff and credited them for the success of the team stating “Kanitkar and the others motivated us a lot and made the players believe in themselves. He (Kanitkar) spoke about the importance of mental strength being important apart from technique to succeed.”
Kanitkar had no qualms about admitting that TNPL got him recognition and he credits his rise to the tournament. But he hopes he gets an IPL call-up, hence chance to rub shoulders with his idols
