'Naam Pant lekin harkatein nikkar waali' - Yuvraj Singh passes birthday wishes to Rishabh Pant in a hilarious way
In 58 IPL games, Pant has scored 1870 runs including a century and 11 half-centuries. He has also been delivering in the on-going IPL edition.
Rishabh Pant, India’s rising star in international cricket, celebrated his 23rd birthday on October 4 (Sunday). The southpaw hasn’t had an impressive stint with the national side, especially in the past few months, but he’s looked upon as one of the most talented wicketkeeper-batsmen in the international circuit. Known for his explosive batting, Pant holds the ability to destroy bowlers from the word go.
Though he has been severely criticized for his irresponsible shot selection, Pant, without a doubt, has a bright future lying ahead of him. He currently is plying his trade for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the on-going edition of the IPL. And, on his special day, Twitter was flooded with birthday wishes for the youngster.
Pant was wished by many fans as well as his teammates and former cricketers. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh wished Pant in a hilarious way along with sharing an old picture. Along with the birthday message, Yuvraj also wished Pant luck for the remainder of the IPL season. Yuvraj wrote– “Jiska naam hai Pant lekin harkatein hain nikkar waali. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday @RishabhPant17. Stay safe and have a successful IPL”
Rishabh Pant has been an integral part of DC set-up
Pant, born in Roorkee, came into the picture after his explosive batting in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. He has now donned the Indian jersey in all three formats but is yet to cement his place in the national side. Recently, he was also criticized for lack of consistency in his batting.
Considering his lack of experience, Pant was often dismissed while playing a ruthless or an irresponsible shot. To add to Pant’s woes, he also started receiving flak for his poor glovework after missing a few catches. Since his arrival in the Indian team, Pant has often been compared to veteran MS Dhoni. However, many feel that it’s a big responsibility for him to fill in the void left by Dhoni.
Pant’s last appearance for India came against New Zealand in the Christchurch Test in February. Talking about his IPL journey, he was one of the three players retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2018 auction. He currently is one of the vital cogs of the Delhi franchise. In 58 IPL games, Pant has scored 1870 runs including a century and 11 half-centuries. He has also been delivering in the on-going IPL edition on the UAE soil.
In four matches so far, the swashbuckling batsman has gathered 134 runs at an average of 44.66. In his most recent IPL game on Saturday, Pant smashed a quick-fire 17-ball 38 to play a vital role in DC gathering 228-run total against Kolkata Knight Riders. In response, KKR could only manage to post 210 runs as Delhi won the game and paved their way up to the top of the points table.
