Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to show his support towards the Indian Women’s cricket team after their incredible journey in the recently concluded Women’s World Cup 2017. The team reached the finals of the World Cup but unfortunately could not cross the final hurdle against England. Despite the fact, their performance throughout the tournament was hugely applauded by celebrities all across the nations and they also seemed to have the support of the fans.

Narendra Modi was overwhelmed to see the country back the valiant warriors despite their loss. The tremendous welcome that the girls received on returning to the country surprised Modi and he could not be a happier man. Narendra Modi thanked all the fans for their constant support and said he is proud to have these girls representing the country.

Modi pointed out that the sadness of not lifting the trophy was visible on the faces of the bunch. But the Prime Minister took it upon himself to cheer up the true heroes of the nation. Modi in his speech said to the girls that when our country loses on such a big occasion, the fans go berserk and the cricketers are often subjected to a lot of abuse and criticism. He pointed out that this is the first time that the country has applauded and celebrated a loss in the finals so sportingly. Modi urged the girls to forget that they failed to win the final because they have already won the hearts of 125 crore Indians.
The girls were surely motivated by Narendra Modi’s inspiring speech and smiles came back on their faces. The wonderful gesture by the Prime Minister clearly portrays the gem of a person he is. Despite the loss, the Indian Women’s team has a fairytale journey at the World Cup which will be remembered for ages.
