Pakistan pacer was roped in by the English county club Gloucestershire for the ongoing County Championship season. The youngster looked to create an impression with the ball in hand in order to be on the selectors’ radar and make a comeback to his national team. Despite having made his international debut at the raw age of 16, Shah has been in and out of the team for a while.
Unfortunately for the emerging fast bowler, his stint for the Gloucestershire has not gone according to his liking as an injury will keep him out of action for a while. He has suffered a shoulder injury which is likely to rule him out for at least a month. Prior to that awful injury, Naseem had bowled 11 overs on his Gloucestershire debut against Northamptonshire in the first round of the ongoing season.
Shah’s update was confirmed by a media release on Gloucestershire Cricket’s social media handles. “Fast bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out of Gloucestershire’s remaining County Championship games in April and May after picking up an injury to his shoulder”, the statement read.
“The 19-year-old Pakistan international sustained the injury during the opening weekend of the season at Northants and will therefore be unavailable for selection for Glos until the start of the T20 Vitality Blast campaign”, it added.
Furthermore, it has also been confirmed that after a mutual discussion between the medical teams of both Gloucestershire and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), they have decided to manage the workload of the youngster so that he can regain complete fitness.

Shah had come to play the English county after a grueling few months which included the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and then the home Test series against Australia. Meanwhile, it has been reported that two overseas players Marcus Harris and Zafar Gohar will continue to play in the County Championship in the youngster’s absence.
