Nasir Jamshed claims evidence against him is 'ridiculous'
Nasir Jamshed is one of the players who is said to be involved in the spot-fixing scandal in PSL.
PSL(Pakistan Super League) was badly hit by the spot-fixing scandal. Six players were suspended by the PCB in connection with the scandal. Nasir Jamshed is one of the players who is said to be involved in this scandal. He is currently being investigated by the British authorities in connection with the scandal. The suspended batsman has now lashed out at PCB describing evidence against him as ‘ridiculous’.
Nasir Jamshed pleads his innocence
PCB is claiming that Whatsapp voice messages of Jamshed prove him guilty as they show him talking in codes about spot-fixing. The 27-year-old has trashed these allegations and claimed there is no truth in them.
“They claim they have WhatsApp voice messages that show me talking about spot-fixing in code. But what they actually have is WhatsApp voice messages that show me talking about selling bats. There’s no code involved at all,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Jamshed as saying in his first interview since his arrest.
Jamshed further claimed that bat deals were not coded words. He said that they were simple business dealings in which he sold bats and got 10% commission from the sale CA bats.
“I’ve had an arrangement for years whereby I would sell a few CA bats and take a 10% commission. It’s no secret; I’m allowed to do it. I laughed out loud when I saw details of their evidence against me. I was amused. It’s so flimsy. It’s ridiculous,” he added.
Reportedly, Whatsapp voice notes were exchanged between Nasir Jamshed and Khalid Latif (another player who is being investigated for spot-fixing)
Nasir Jamshed wants case to be closed
Nasir Jamshed argued if these Whatsapp messages are the only source of evidence, the case against him should be dropped. He also claimed that there is no evidence that he has made financial gain from this deal.
Jamshed said that he has no confidence in PCB and insisted that he has more confidence in the National Crime Agency.
“We have every confidence in the National Crime Agency. But we have very little confidence in the PCB,” Pakistan opener said.
Nasir Jamshed who has represented Pakistan in International cricket in close to 70 international games, was arrested by Britain’s National Crime Agency in connection with the alleged spot-fixing case.
Five other players, including Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan, Shahzaib Hasan and Nawaz were suspended by the PCB for being accused in the spot-fixing scandal in PSL.
