After Pakistan’s cricket was rocked by corruption allegations in the PSL, Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed has expressed his willingness to cooperate with the PCB.

Jamshed was thought to be the main perpetrator amongst a list of players involved in the PSL scandal. However, in an exclusive interview with Geo TV, Nasir Jamshed denied these allegations against him.

He said, “I am willing to cooperate with the PCB but request that the NCA inquiry should be completed first.”

As per media reports, Jamshed was also accused of having escaped the matter by shifting to another residence. However, Jamshed clarified, “I have not changed my residence nor am I hiding from anyone.”

On Tuesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board formally charged the opening batsman Nasir Jamshed for refusing to cooperate in and obstructing its anti-corruption investigation.

Nasir Jamshed has been charged under two different clauses of the PCB’s anti-corruption code. Nevertheless, Jamshed is not charged with fixing, attempting fixing and contacts with bookies or even encouraging players to get involved in fixing.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has today issued a Notice of Charge to Nasir Jamshed for violation of Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code requiring him to respond within 14 days,” a PCB statement said.

The 27-year old made his international debut against Zimbabwe in 2008. Jamshed has played 48 ODIs since and was last seen in action for Pakistan during the 2015 World Cup. Nasir Jamshed has also represented Pakistan in 2 Test matches and 18 T20Is.

In 2012, Jamshed made a statement with his batting. He scored two ODI hundreds against the then world champions India, in India. His brilliant form with the bat had firmly established his spot at the top of the order for Pakistan.

If proven guilty in his role in the on-going investigations of the case, Jamshed will have to face two different levels of penalties.
