Nasir Jamshed's wife Samara Afzal rubbishes reports of their divorce
Afzal baffled at Pakistan media
Dr Samara Afzal, the better half of former Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed, took to Twitter rubbishing all claims of their divorce. She further lambasted at the Pakistani media for spreading such rumours. Afzal has always been supporting of his husband, even after alleged match-fixing scandal in the Pakistan Super League.
The 27-year old left-hander has represented Pakistan in 48 ODIs, piling up 1418 runs at an average of 31.51. He has scored 3 centuries along with 8 half-centuries. Jamshed also represented for Pakistan in the other two formats of the game.
In February 2017, Jamshed was provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code as a part of an ongoing investigation of Pakistan Super League 2017. Apart from Jamshed, Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan and Shahzaib Hasan were also accused of spot-fixing in the Pakistan’s domestic T20 league.
Afzal always supporting of her husband
Earlier in April, PCB also made an allegation against Nasir Jamshed for evading jurisdiction, dodging phone calls and changing his address in United Kingdom to avoid the anti-corruption unit officials and lawyers for further probe and inquiry. Having said that, Nasir Jamshed’s wife Dr. Samara Afzal denied all accusations against her husband. She took social media to comment that the person who’s accused of changing addresses and dodging phone call was always in front of her.
Pakistan media misinterpreted one of the tweets she posted yesterday about relationships going down and moving on in life. The media connected all the dots to state their judgement on the relationship between Dr. Samara Afzal and Nasir Jamshed. “Time to stop feeling sorry for myself.. and be strong .. relationships break down but life must go on..” tweeted Afzal. Afzal was quick to respond with yet another tweet rubbishing all the claims from Pakistan media saying,” Not sure where the media has got that I and Nasir have divorced.. but that is false news..”
