The charity game between ICC World XI and Windies took place at the iconic Lord’s on Thursday with the Caribbean team won comfortably by 72 runs. It was a much-awaited game though with the superstars in T20 cricket battling it out in the middle. The Stadium was jam-packed as the crowd witnessed some brutal hitting from the World Champions and saw the World XI going down easily. However, during the game, they saw Nasser Hussain on the field commentating about the proceedings and has received the flak on social media for the same.
The commentators are known to bring life to the proceedings for the people watching the cricket match on the television. Ravi Shastri’s voice when MS Dhoni hit the winning six in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 still reverberates in the ears of the Indian fans. But this time Nasser tried something very unique and was beside the fielders when the game was in progress.
Twitter trolls Hussain
Nasser Hussain was in the slips during the first innings as he spoke to the wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi after which he was seen in the mid-on and deep in the field as well. Interestingly, he talked to the bowlers in the middle of the overs and was in conversation with the physio also who had come to treat the struggling Chris Gayle. While many were perplexed on how he was allowed to go against the rule being an international game, few of the fans like this interesting move.
But Hussain was also saved from hitting the ball twice which could’ve been extremely dangerous. Twitterati didn’t like him going on to the field which must have disturbed the players’ concentration. They trolled him hilariously as few of them also questioned the ICC for allowing the former England player to commentate on the field.
Here’s how Netizens trolled Hussain:
Commantror in the Field ??@ICC please explain is it International match or List A Game ???? @nassercricket #WIvsWorldXI #WorldXI pic.twitter.com/zIPrSK3pww

Nasser Hussain, on commentary, at first slip for the opening over. This is why these games – wonderful as they are – should never have international status. #WIvRoW pic.twitter.com/T3caRzOEEA

Exactly what value does this add for the viewer? TV producers takings things to next level stupid.

This is an official T20 international and a reporter (Nasser Hussain) is standing in a deepish first slip position.

No wonder if Nasser Hussain catches the ball and claims for it at some stage of the game. Will be interesting. π #WXIvWI

Okay ICC, Nasser Hussain commentating from behind the keeper/slips/players is not innovation or creativity.. Do not introduce this to international or franchise cricket. #WXIvWI
