Pandya is currently busy recovering from a lower-back injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He has also been sweating it out in the net sessions and would be taking part for the Reliance outfit in the annual corporate Dr DY Patil T20 tournament. He hasn’t played any competitive cricket since September 2019 when he played the home series against South Africa.
Pandya has been dealing with back issues since the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was earlier slated to make a comeback in the tour of New Zealand, but injury turned detrimental yet another time. In his absence, India have preferred Shivam Dube in the eleven.
But Dube has flattered to deceive and Pandya’s absence is being felt. It now remains to be seen whether or not he can take part in the 2020 IPL where he represents the Mumbai Indians. Hardik is also expected to play a crucial role in the 2020 edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
