Hardik Pandya likely to return to action during India tour of Sri Lanka
Hardik Pandya last featured in a competitive game of cricket during the now-suspended 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The all-rounder represented the defending champions Mumbai Indian in the competition but the league was abruptly put to a halt by BCCI due to the havoc caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Though MI was experiencing a decent ride in IPL 2021 as they won four out of their seven games, the same can’t be said for Hardik. The young Pandya refrained from making any contribution with the ball as he feared that his back surgery might resurface. However, he failed to deliver an impactful performance with the willow too. In seven matches, the 27-year-old could manage only 52 runs at a strike rate of 118.81.
Hardik doesn’t have any game scheduled for over a month now as he isn’t named in India’s 20-member squad for the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship followed by the five-match Test series against England. The all-rounder is likely to make a comeback to the Indian team during the India tour of England comprising three T20 Internationals and as many One Day Internationals, scheduled in July 2021.
