Indians are settled abroad in several parts of the country. So when Team India play away from home, there is no dearth in the number of Indian supporters at the stadiums. Be it England, Australia, South Africa or New Zealand, one would see Indian supporters in large numbers carrying posters of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and the others while they cheer their hearts out.

Similar are the scenes in New Zealand right now, where India are playing a 3-match T20I series currently levelled 1-1 with the final game yet to be played. Nathan McCullum, brother of former Kiwi skipper Brendon McCullum who was present at Eden Park in Auckland to witness the second ODI between India and New Zealand, took to Twitter and expressed his amazement at the support of Indian fans at the venue.

“Took my family to the cricket tonight for @BLACKCAPS Great atmosphere @edenparknz with the Indian fans making it an awesome time for the kids. Loud and energetic. Gotta love the passion for the Indian team and players that the fans present. Felt like I was back in India,” wrote Nathan who watched the game with his family from the stands.

Various Indian fans were seen at the venue, donning the Indian team jersey and the national flag in their hands. Among several placards, Dhoni and Virat’s pictures were the most in numbers. This, despite India losing the first ODI quite badly. The entire venue chanted Dhoni’s name when he walked out to bat, including the home crowd. And Dhoni repaid the fans’ craze for him by staying on unbeaten on 20 in the run chase.

India will be looking to create history again

India have been on a roller coaster ride in the last three months, with historic wins in Australia and New Zealand. They will be looking to achieve another first, by winning their first ever T20I series in New Zealand. The game will be played at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday.
