The former Indian cricketer and now a politician Navjot Singh Sidhu came under the scanner for his statement on Pulwama attack. He felt that one nation shouldn’t be blamed entirely for the terrorism and in other words, defended Pakistan after the Jaish-e-Mohammad took full responsibility of the wrongdoing. Soon after his comment, Sidhu was the at receiving end of a severe backlash and he faced the repercussions of the same as well.
The social media was filled with messages of banning him from the Sony Channel and the Kapil Sharma show. The fuming people also warned both, the channel and the show, to remove Sidhu else they would boycott them. According to an Indian Express report, Sidhu has been removed from the show with an immediate effect and Archana Puran Singh has replaced him.
“For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?” Sidhu had said after the attack which didn’t go down well with the many at all.
Sidhu’s clarification
Meanwhile, Navjot Singh Sidhu has come up with a clarification over the matter now saying that his comment was taken out of the context completely. Moreover, Sidhu added that he only wanted a permanent solution to terrorism as the soldiers have been suffering in Kashmir from the last 70 years.
“I was only saying that we need to find a permanent solution to the problem of terrorism. Why should soldiers be made to suffer each time? Such attacks have been happening for the last 70 years,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV. Moreover, he also went on to express that terrorism doesn’t have any religion or nationality and it should be destroyed. He also expressed concerns over the security arrangements of the CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
