While Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a torrid time in the first leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, they couldn’t kick-start the UAE leg on a grand note either. Facing Delhi Capitals in their first assignment, the Orange Army elected to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The decision didn’t prove to be fruitful by any means as SRH suffered a horrendous batting collapse.

While opener David Warner got out for a duck, Wriddhiman Saha, Manish Pandey, and Kane Williamson threw their wickets away after getting decent starts. Veteran batter Kedar Jadhav couldn’t do much either, getting out on three of eight balls. Coming to bat at number five, Jadhav never looked comfortable in the middle and eventually fell prey to Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje.

Kedar Jadhav fails to make an impact

With Jadhav being an experienced campaigner, fans were not amused with his mediocre show. However, the 36-year-old didn’t come under the scanner just for his batting failure. He went for a review after the on-field umpire adjudged him LBW. It was indeed a bizarre call as the veteran batter looked plumped. Nortje bowled a full-length delivery that trapped Jadhav in front of the wickets.

Only an inside edge would have saved Jadhav on this occasion. However, the review showed there’s no willow involved and the ball is hitting the middle of the middle stump. This way Jadhav’s brief stay at the crease ended and SRH lost a crucial review. Notably, a team gets only one review per innings in T20 matches. Hence, it should be used wisely.

On this occasion, however, Jadhav’s judgment proved wrong and fans were not amused. Subsequently, Twitter got flooded with different reactions. With several brutally bashed the veteran for being reckless, a section of fans also reacted with memes and jokes.

Meanwhile, the UAE leg holds great significance for SRH as nothing much went their way in the first leg. Having lost six of their first seven games, the Orange Army was last in the team standings at the time of season suspension. This means a couple of defeats in the second installment could knock them out of the playoff race.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to Kedar Jadhav’s bizarre DRS call:
