Now, with the Indian Premier League all suited and booted for a mid-season transfer exercise on Sunday, it once again reaffirms the stature of the league as being a pioneer in embracing cricketing innovations. From strategic timeout where players take a breather between to innovative awards, IPL has always set the benchmark. This time around, it’s the mid-season transfer of players that should keep the fans interested.
Here are the transfer rules
Players, who have played less than two matches for their franchise till the half-way mark of IPL 2018 is eligible for transfer. The IPL transfer window, which will be open from Match No.28 to Match No.42 (April 29 to May 10), will allow concerned franchises will be allowed to buy and negotiate with players.
Previously, Mid-Day has reported that the head of the Indian Premier League Governing Council, Rajeev Shukla, had confirmed that the mid-season transfer window will be incorporated in IPL this time around.
Top targets in the mid-season transfer window
England’s Moeen Ali and Proteas middle-order batsman JP Duminy are expected to be the priority targets, in what will be the first ever mid-season transfer in IPL. Ish Sodhi of Rajasthan Royals and SRH’s Alex Hales are also speculated to be on the radar of many teams.
