Netherlands have announced a 16-member squad to face the West Indies in a series that kicks off a busy calendar of One Day International matches throughout the world. The Pieter Seelaar-led Netherlands will face West Indies for three ODIs at Amsterdam with acting coach Ryan Cook picking a relatively settled squad.

The white-ball series will kick start Netherlands’ international season as they will be hosting England in June, followed by Pakistan in August after their stint with the West Indies. The West Indies and Pakistan series will both be counted towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, which provides a pathway for teams to qualify for the next ICC Cricket World Cup, to be hosted in India in 2023.

The Netherlands are currently in last place in the Super League standings, having won only two of their ten games thus far. Only New Zealand and Afghanistan have played fewer Super League games than the Dutch, so there are ample opportunities for them to climb the rankings.

West Indies are similarly languishing in tenth place, three places ahead of their forthcoming opponents, having lost ten of their 15 ODI matches. The visitors will be missing the services of Jason Holder and Evin Lewis, but have picked a rather formidable 15-member line-up. After taking over the captaincy from Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran will lead the side against Pakistan for three more ODIs in Rawalpindi following the completion of the Dutch series.
