‘Never experienced that sort of tiredness before in my life’ - Moeen Ali shares experience after testing COVID-19 positive

Moeen Ali, the England all-rounder, has shared his horrific experience after he was tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier in January, the southpaw fell prey to coronavirus upon his arrival in Sri Lanka. Thereafter, Moeen had to go through a 14-day quarantine period in a hotel room.

He couldn’t take part in the two-match Test series that England won 2-0. Moeen was clear cut in saying that he was tired to the extreme and “wouldn’t wish it on anyone”. The 33-year-old stated that he didn’t lose his cool and waited for the tough times to pass at the earliest.

“I had a loss of taste for a day or so, splitting headaches for three days, the body was very sore and the fatigue was. I’ve never experienced that sort of tiredness before in my life. It was three days feeling pretty rough and the rest was fine.

“When I initially got it, I thought the next five days will be crucial here, I didn’t want the cough and fever and thankfully I didn’t have that. There’s part of you that’s worried and anticipating it would be bad,” Moeen told to the reporters.

“The last four days, in particular, were very tough because I felt fine but I was just stuck in a room. It was tough. I somehow got through and didn’t think too much about it, just used the time as wisely as I could,” he stated.

“It’s one of those things. It has been tough but I’m a big believer in ‘after hardship comes ease’. Hopefully, there is some ease after this,” Moeen added.

Moeen is a part of the Three Lions’ squad for the upcoming Test series against India, starting February 5. The opening two Tests will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, popularly known as the Chepauk.

As far as Moeen is concerned, he last played Test cricket for the Brits back in August 2019 against Australia in Birmingham. He has continued to play white-ball cricket for England though. A couple of months ago, he was also a part of RCB in the 2020 IPL.
