Suresh Raina’s name did not even appear in the list of players who were shortlisted for the IPL mega auction. And, this means that the 2022 IPL edition will be first time that the IPL will be conducted without Raina playing in it.
Raina experienced a poor run in the 2021 edition of the IPL. The IPL legend struggled to get going in the 14th season and scored just 160 runs in 11 innings at a poor average of just 17.78. The veteran was not at his best last year and experienced his worst IPL season with the bat.
Raina also scored just a single fifty in the entire tournament, and after his poor returns last year, no franchise decided to go for the left-handed batting veteran.

@ImRaina Been a huge fan of Raina since he started international cricket, but this season he remained unsold. "रैना है ना" was always my line when match slipped from India's hand. Shocked and very emotional! 💔 @HariniRana #SureshRaina pic.twitter.com/qWyd5nqEVI

I think, IPL is the platform where new players shows their talents. Mr.raina served for many years..Let's new players serve & it's not a wrong if someone unsold. May be some supporters will say it's their democratic rights to sold out🤣

Sad that not a single team picked Mr. IPL Suresh Raina who has had an extraordinary performance in most IPL tournaments. Someone who has scored 400 runs in most IPLs till now. Many today are heartbroken to see him go unsold.
