Indian women’s pace bowler Jhulan Goswami received an honour of having a cricket ball to her name after achieving a major milestone by becoming the numero uno wicket-taker in Women’s ODIs. The ball has been named “Bengal Tigress” and was manufactured by B. Dasgupta in accordance with SS Sports. Indian Test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and Utpal Chatterjee were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

The Indian eves stand a great chance of reaching the final of the upcoming World Cup, given their recent record-winning performance in the Quadrangular series in South Africa. India won the finals beating the Proteas by eight wickets to seal the series. The team also looks in good shape with skipper Mithali Raj and Jhulan bringing in the much-needed impetus and experience into the squad.

The Indian eves are scheduled to play their first match of the World Cup in a derby against England on June 24.

Big moment for Jhulan Goswami

According to Xtratime, Jhulan was quoted saying at the event, “Yes it is a big moment for me and I would like to thank all my coaches, trainers and physios for this moment. I would also like to thank my family for being there through my ups and downs and also my friends for being there always and for tolerating my nonsense and all my madness. We have huge targets now before us. We have the World Cup and I need to be fully focused for that.”

Goswami revealed during the program if given an opportunity the Indian eves would meet and discuss with the Indian men’s cricket team seeking plans and strategies for their upcoming World Cup in June. She also praised the BCCI for promoting Women’s cricket at the grassroots level which in turn has improved the cricketing scenario in the country. The Indian pacer is also optimistic of the men’s squad and believes the Men in Blue can lift the ICC Champions Trophy this year too.
