Cricket Australia (CA), who have tied up with the Japanese athletic equipment company Asics, revealed their jerseys for the long home summer starting this Ashes. The same jersey would be worn throughout the entire home stretch.

Present at the ceremony at Sydney was the bunch of Aussie stars David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Nathan Lyon, Peter Handscomb and Josh Hazlewood to flaunt their new kit. The team would be first wearing the outfit when they take on England, in all the three formats, starting with the Magellan Ashes from November 23.

Changes in the jersey:

While the Test jersey looks awfully similar, the ODI jersey features a predominant gold playing kit, which has been the hallmark for Australian cricket since its yellow jersey before 2015 winning World Cup.

There, exists a change in the ODI jersey, with green patches on both sides of the front part of the jersey. However, there has been a massive change in the T20 jersey, with the management ditching the predominant dark green jersey for a more traditional yellow and green one, with black on the sleeves.

Australia’s women team will be wearing their gold uniforms in all six limited overs matches throughout the multi-format Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes, switching the yellow jersey for the traditional whites when they take on England in the first-ever women’s day-night Test at North Sydney Oval on November 9.

For the first time, the fans can buy the Southern Stars jersey, which would be available before the visiting team take on the host side. The opening match of the ODI series would take place on Sunday at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field.

Long summer ahead:

Australia would be locking horns against England in a 5 Test and 5 ODI series before New Zealand joins the two teams for a first of its kind tri T20I series which would consist of seven international matches.

It would be interesting to see how the Australian squad cope up with the long summer, with Steven Smith’s side returning from the Indian series.
