New Zealand have found themselves in an uncomfortable position. Not often they are lagging in the series especially at home and would be keen to bounce back and level the series. On the other hand, it will be a special day for Team India as it is the Republic Day back home and a win will be a wonderful gift for the fans.
Hardik Pandya will reach just before the match after he was added to the squad late on Thursday and it is unlikely that he will play this match. India’s wrist-spinners will continue to play the key role even as the Kiwis should play him better now. Tim Southee might have to sit out after an ordinary outing in Napier and Ish Sodhi should take his place with the pitch likely to assist the spinners more.

Probable Playing XI:
New Zealand:
Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson(C), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham (WK), Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Doug Bracewell, Ish Sodhi.
Bench –Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Colin de Grandhomme.
Note: Tim Southee might get sidelined for Ish Sodhi as the Bay Oval could produce turn. New Zealand included both Latham and Nicholls at the cost of Grandhomme.
India:
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (C), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (WK), Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Bench –Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, K Khaleel Ahmed, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya.
Note: India might not change their bowling combination but could bring in Dinesh Karthik or Shubman Gill for Rayudu who is struggling.
Power Picks:
Kane Williamson is in great form with the bat. He has scored six half-centuries against India at home so far and averages 70.83. Another similar outing is expected for him.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson should be the best options for captain and vice-captain. Ross Taylor and Shikhar Dhawan are also the tempting options for the multiplier while Martin Guptill and Rohit Sharma are the other top players. Even MS Dhoni could be a surprise option given his recent form and India’s batting line-up could be tested this time especially if they bat first.
Suggested Playing XI No.1 for Fantasy Cricket:
Keeper – Tom Latham
Batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (C), Kane Williamson (VC), Ross Taylor
All-Rounders – Vijay Shankar
Bowlers – Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Doug Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson.

Expert Advice:
Hardik Pandya has been added to the Indian squad. He might not make it to the 2nd ODI XI as he will be jet lagged. His inclusion could change the whole team combination.
Probable Winners:
India are definitely the favourites to win this game and extend their lead to 2-0. But one can never count out New Zealand as they will try and come back strongly to level the series.
