Boult @ 100:

102 – Trent Boult became the 2nd player to claim 100 wickets in ODI cricket in New Zealand. Daniel Vettori picked up 129 wickets in New Zealand in as many ODI matches.

49 – Number of matches Boult needed for 100 wickets in this format in New Zealand. He is the quickest to 100 ODI wickets in a country among the 27 players. The previous quickest was Waqar Younis from 53 matches in UAE. He claimed 114 ODI wickets in UAE from 61 matches.

A special five-fer for Boult:

5 – Trent Boult picked up his fifth 5-wicket haul in ODI cricket; the joint-most by any bowler for New Zealand in this format. Richard Hadlee also bagged five 5-wicket hauls for the Kiwis in ODIs.

5 – All the five 5-wicket hauls of Boult in ODI cricket have come in New Zealand; the joint-most by any player in a country. Brett Lee is the other player with five 5-wicket hauls in a country as he picked five of them in Australia out of his nine in ODI cricket.

A young entry to Indian line-up:

19y 145d – At the age of 19 years and 145 days, Shubman Gill became the youngest Indian to bat in the top three on ODI debut. The previous youngest was Virat Kohli who opened the innings against Sri Lanka in 2008 at the age of 19 years and 287 days.

2 – Shubman is only the 2nd Indian to make his ODI debut before turning 20 in the last decade. The other player was Washington Sundar (18y 69d) during the 2017 home series against Sri Lanka.

End of a streak:

12 – This defeat brought an end to Rohit Sharma’s 12 consecutive wins in International cricket. This is the joint-longest winning streak for an Indian captain alongside Virat Kohli who achieved it 2017.

17 – India lost for the first time in last 18 ODI matches that Kedar Jadhav has played. Last time India lost an ODI with Jadhav in the playing was at Wankhede in 2017 also against New Zealand. Incidentally, it was Virat Kohli’s 200th ODI. India won 16 of their previous 17 ODIs with Kedar in the playing XI while another game ended in a tie.

No Kohli and Dhoni:

8 – This game is only the 8th ODI for India without both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the playing XI since 2008. They featured in the 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh in 2014 and Zimbabwe in 2015 without any big names. In the 2009 home series against Sri Lanka, India featured in an ODI when Dhoni was banned due to slow over-rate. India won all other six matches while another one getting washed out.
