New Zealand vs India, 2019: 4th ODI – Statistical Preview

New Zealand continues to search for a way to defeat India who has been cruising in the ongoing 5-match ODI series at home. The visiting side dominated the first three ODIs thoroughly to seal the series with two more games to be played. Skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for the remainder of the tour with Rohit Sharma taking up the responsibilities. The Kiwis would be hoping to capitalize on the absence of the World No.1 batsman who is expected to be replaced by a young Shubman Gill.

2009 – Last time India featured in an ODI outside Asia (excluding bilateral series against Zimbabwe) without Virat Kohli in the playing XI was way back in 2009 during the Windies tour. Kohli didn’t make it to the squad for the 4-match ODI series in Windies.

2010 – India have featured in only six ODI matches without both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the playing XI since the start of 2010. Kohli has been rested for the remainder of the tour while Dhoni had a hamstring issue. Both the players were rested for the 2014 three-match ODI series in Bangladesh and in the 2015 three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe.
