New Zealand vs India: Colin Munro starts walking after bails get dislodged due to wind
Munro ended up scoring 34 runs off 20 balls during his stay at the crease.
Many a time, cricket finds itself to be a victim of dishonesty and controversy. Be it about overlooking subtle nicking of a ball by a batsman or overlooking a plumb leg before by the umpire, there is no dearth of instances where honesty takes a backseat. But the gesture shown by New Zealand batsman Colin Munro during the first T20I against India in Wellington on Wednesday was a shocking anti-thesis to all the unethical business in cricket.
It was in the fourth over of the game when the dashing left-hander was on strike and Khaleel Ahmed was the bowler. Munro was batting on 28 off just 12 balls and had just hit two consecutive sixes. As Ahmed started to run in for the third ball of the over, the umpire stopped him and Munro saw to his back to see the bails of the stumps having got dislodged.
The batsman instantly started walking back under the illusion that he got hit wicket and then stopped to turn around to realise that the bails were moved by strong air. Munro then picked up the bails as the leg umpire rushed in to put them in order again. The viewers, however, were surprised how a batsman could get confused that a part of his bat hadn’t touched the stumps.

India thrashed by 80 runs
Colin Munro though did not last long after this incident and fell for 34 in the ninth over to a delivery from Hardik Pandya. However, his opening partnership of 86 with wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert who slammed 84 in just 43 deliveries laid the foundation for an emphatic win for the Kiwis.
The Black Caps scored a challenging 219 for 6 in 20 overs after India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and sent them to bat. The visitors could not make a match of it and got all out for just 139 in 19.2 overs with Seifert’s opposite number MS Dhoni scoring the highest score for the team – 39.
