New Zealand vs India: 'Dhoni' accompanies Virat Kohli and Williamson at the toss
Hannah's nickname is Dhoni and is a diehard fan of the veteran.
We saw a seven-year-old boy named Archie Schiller getting an honourable membership of the Australian Test team in the recent series against India. It was a step taken to cheer the cricket-crazy boy who has a medical history since his infancy. Schiller even went out for the toss with the Australian and Indian captains for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. A similar scene was witnessed at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui before the start of the second ODI between New Zealand and India also.
Hannah, a little fangirl of MS Dhoni, was seen accompanying Kiwi captain Kane Williamson and his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli during the toss for the match in what was a lifetime opportunity. Kohli won the toss and elected to bat and propelled by some powerful performances by the Indian batters, the visitors reached 324 for 4 in 50 overs even though the potential total was looking even higher at one time. India, however, did not have much trouble winning the game as the hosts were bowled out for 234.
‘Heart with India, mind with Kiwis’
Speaking about Hannah, the girl is from India but is settled in New Zealand. Her father Nilay Raval said that since they had a dilemma over the support (heart for India, mind for the Black Caps), they would not support any particular team in the game and rather enjoy the game.
The family wouldn’t have disappointed after the Indian batters’ big hitting and especially, Dhoni, who just fell short of scoring his fourth consecutive fifty as the overs ran out. The ace wicket-keeper-batsman who had a terrific ODI series against Australia with three fifties in as many games remained not out on 48 off just 33 balls with a strike rate of above 145 – something the cricketing world hasn’t seen for a long time.
Raval, a businessman, said that ANZ Bank nominated her to take part in the event as a once in a lifetime moment. He was happy since his children (he has a son too) are big fans of both Dhoni and Kohli.
“ANZ Bank (the sponsor) has nominated her (from a random draw) for a once in a lifetime opportunity to be with the two captains at the toss”, he said over the telephone, adding that Hannah is such a big fan of Dhoni is that her nickname is also ‘Dhoni’ and she likes it to the core.
