Team India had to leave out MS Dhoni in the third ODI as he was struggling with a sore hamstring. It didn’t affect the team much as the veteran’s replacement Dinesh Karthik did a fair job behind the wickets and also scored runs to gain the much-needed confidence. However, there is a lot of focus on Dhoni with this possibly being the last year of his illustrious career.
After missing the previous game, MS Dhoni looks set to return for the dead rubber. He was seen sweating it out in the nets ahead of the fourth match. The BCCI’s Twitter handle posted the pictures of Team India’s practice sessions. It will be interesting to see who will make way for him though as Karthik deserves another go after playing impressive knock in the third match.

India to make many changes
If India’s fielding coach R Sridhar’s words are to be believed, the visitors are likely to ring in significant changes for the game. He has cleared that the dead rubbers are the best games to test the bench which might lead to Shubman Gill getting a debut. MS Dhoni looks certain to return behind the stumps.
Mohammed Shami will most likely be rested for the first time since England tour and Khaleel Ahmed seems to be replacing him looking at the nets session.
New Zealand, on the other hand, have also called Jimmy Neesham and Todd Astle back in the squad and the former is certain to play. The way India have tackled the spin bowling with utter ease, Astle might have to wait for his chance. Tim Southee can come back but even that is not certain. It will be interesting to see who gets the final nod as the Kiwis will look to make it 3-1 in the series.
