India Woman continued their domination over the New Zealand Woman to clinch the 3-match ODI series with one more game still to be played. The bowlers once again put India on top with Jhulan Goswami picking up three wickets while the three spinners picked up two wickets each. Captain Amy Satterthwaite’s 71 helped the White Ferns to score 161. India chased down the target with 88 balls and eight wickets to spare as Smriti Mandhana (90*) and Mithali Raj (63*) scored unbeaten fifties after two early wickets.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during yet another big win for the India Women:

A first for India:

5 – This win was India Women’s fifth consecutive ODI win against New Zealand. They are only the 3rd team with five or more consecutive ODI wins against New Zealand Women. England and Australia have five or more consecutive ODIs win against the White Ferns more than once.

Mandhana continues her consistency:

90.42 – Smriti Mandhana’s batting average in her last ten ODI innings. She scored 633 runs in her previous 10 ODI innings with help of one century and seven fifties. Mandhana’s runs came at an impressive strike-rate of 94.9.

195 – Runs Smriti Mandhana aggregated in this series thus far; the most runs in a bilateral ODI series in New Zealand by an Indian Woman. The previous highest was only 122 runs by Anjum Chopra during the 5-match ODI series in 2006 against the hosts where she played four games.

Mithali and Mandhana level Indian record:

5 – Number of century stand in ODIs between Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana; the joint-most along with four other pairs in this format for Indian Women. The duo has three 100-run stands in ODI chases which are also the joint-most by an Indian pair in Women’s ODI cricket.

Mithali finishes off in style:

3 – Only the 3rd time in her ODI cricket that Mithali Raj has hit more than one six in an innings. She hit two sixes during her unbeaten 104 against Sri Lanka in 2014 and also during an unbeaten 51 against South Africa in a successful chase in 2017.

3 – This was the 3rd instance of Mithali Raj finishing off an ODI run-chase with a six; the most by any Indian Woman. Mithali finished off a chase with a six against Bangladesh in the World Cup qualifier and against South Africa during the quadrangular Series; both in 2017.

16 – Number of scores of fifty or more in successful ODI run-chases for veteran Mithali; the joint-most by any woman. She equalled Charlotte Edwards’ 16 fifty-plus scores which the former England player made in two innings fewer than Mithali.

Indian bowlers skittle the hosts:

6 – New Zealand’s innings included as many as six bowled dismissals of the players’ batting at No.5 and at a lower position. This is the first such instance in ODIs and also in internationals of Women’s cricket.

Six of the bottom seven batsmen getting bowled in the same innings was recorded on six occasions in Men’s internationals (4 times in Tests and two times in ODIs). Last of the six instances in Men’s cricket was recorded in December 1985.
