New Zealand Women clinched the T20I series with yet another victory against the India Women in a thriller at the Eden Park in Auckland. Jemimah Rodrigues’ 72 and Smriti Mandhana’s 36 were the only contributions with the bat for India Women who finished with only 135/6. Chasing a moderate target to win the series, Suzie Bates led the charge as the White Ferns were cruising at 101/2 in the 15th over. However, some quick wickets brought India back into the game but the hosts reached the target on the final delivery.

1 – This was the first instance of New Zealand Women completing a chase on the final delivery in T20I cricket. The previous latest New Zealand chased down a target was in 19.4 overs in the 2013 MCG T20I against Australia Women in pursuit of a target of 152.
3 – Only the 3rd time a team completed their run chase on the last ball of a Women’s T20I game against India. The other two instances are recorded by England in the 2010 Mumbai T20I and Bangladesh in the last year’s Women’s T20I Asia Cup Final.
Jemimah too good for age:
72 – Jemimah Rodrigues’ 72 is the 5th highest score in Women’s T20I cricket by a player before turning 19. Among Indians, Jemimah’s 72 is the highest T20I score surpassing her own 59 against the White Ferns during the recent WT20. Deandra Dottin scored an unbeaten 112 in the 2010 WT20 which is the highest T20I score by a player before turning 19.
572 – The 572 runs Rodrigues aggregated in her T20I career thus far are the most by any player before turning 19 in this format. She went past Stafanie Taylor’s 540 T20I runs before turning 19.
Mandhana @ 1000 as an opener:
1019 – Smriti Mandhana became 2nd Indian and overall the 9th player in Women’s T20I cricket to aggregate 1000 runs as an opener. Mithali Raj is the other player from India with this feat having scored 1407 runs while opening the innings.
22y 205d – Smriti Mandhana became the youngest player in T20I history to complete 1000 runs as an opener. She is the 25th player with 1000 T20I runs as an opener across Men’s cricket (16 players) and Women’s cricket (9 players) but only the 2nd to reach the milestone before turning 23. Stafanie Taylor was 22 years and 286 days old when she completed 1000 T20I runs while opening the innings during the 201 4 WT20.

100 – This match was India Women’s 100th T20I game. They are the 6th team to feature in 100 T20Is in Women’s cricket.
7 – The victory in this game was New Zealand Women’s 7th consecutive T20I win at home. They have won 13 of their previous 14 T20Is played in the Kiwi nation.
