India Women were on the receiving end of a whitewash in the 3-match T20I against the New Zealand Women despite being favourites to win all the three matches at some stage. In the last game of the series, the White Ferns posted 161/7 in their 20 overs with help of Sophie Devine’s 52-ball 72. Chasing a big score, India were 123/3 at end of the 15th over with Smriti Mandhana batting on 86. However, India could only add 36 runs from the last 27 balls after her dismissal with six wickets in hand to fall short of the target by only three runs.

Here are all the major stats and numbers from the final game of the 3-match Women’s T20I series:

Mandhana and Jemimah’s pair fall three short of a record:

47 – Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues added 47 runs for the 2nd wicket in the 3rd T20I after partnerships of 98 and 63 in the first two games. Had they added three more runs in the final game, they could have become only the 3rd pair with three fifty-plus partnerships in a bilateral T20I series. (Men/Women)

Pakistan pair of Ahmed Shehzad and Babar Azam in the 2017 Independence Cup against the World XI and the White Ferns pair of Katey Martin and Amy Satterthwaite in the last year’s home T20I series against Windies have had three 50+ stands.

208 – The 208 runs in this series between Mandhana and Jemimah are the 4th most by any pair and the highest for an Indian pair in a bilateral T20I series in Women’s cricket. Previous highest for India Women is 185 runs by Mandhana and Mithali Raj pair in the 2018 5-match series against South Africa.

The Mandhana-Jemimah pair is only the 2nd Indian pair across Men’s and Women’s cricket with 200+ runs in a bilateral T20I series. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul added 220 runs in the 2017 3-match home series against Sri Lanka.

A big knock in a loss:

86 – The 86-run knock by Smriti Mandhana is the highest individual score in an unsuccessful run-chase in Women’s T20I cricket. The previous highest score coming during a losing cause in the Women’s T20Is was 73 by Sarah Taylor also against New Zealand during last year’s home Triangular T20I series.

86 – Mandhana’s 86 is also the 3rd highest individual T20I score coming during a loss in Women’s cricket. Beth Mooney scored an unbeaten 117 against England in 2017 while Sterre Kalis of Netherlands scored an unbeaten 88 against UAE last year in losses while batting first.

86 – Mandhana’s 86-run knock is also the highest T20I score for India Women in a run-chase. Mithali Raj’s unbeaten 76 in the last year’s T20I against South Africa in East London was the previous highest. Harmanpreet Kaur’s 103 against New Zealand in the 2018 WT20 and Mithali Raj’s 97* against Malaysia are the only scores higher than Mandhana’s 86 for India in Women’s T20Is.

A record series for both teams:

Sophie Devine’s 153 runs in this series are the most in a 3-match T20I series for New Zealand Women surpassing the 141 runs by Suzie Bates in 2013 against Australia.

456 – New Zealand’s 456 runs in this series are the 4th most by any team in a 3-match T20I series in Women’s cricket. These are also the highest for them in a 3-match series surpassing the 420 runs in the 2013 series against Australia.

India’s 430 runs in this series are also their most in a 3-match series surpassing 391 runs during the 2014 home T20I series against Sri Lanka.

886 – This series aggregate of 886 runs is the 2nd highest in a 3-match T20I series in Women’s cricket. The 3-match T20I series in 2017 between Australia and England part of the Women’s Ashes aggregated 889 runs.
