Glenn Phillips continues to impress for Black Caps
The 25-year-old batter has been a regular part of the Kiwi’s T20I squad since making a debut in 2017. He is leading the T20I scoring charts for New Zealand in 2o22 with 319 runs in just nine matches with two unbeaten fifties in his last five matches. He has now scored 964 runs in 28 T20I innings at an impressive average of 31.09 and a strike rate of 141.76.
Glenn is on the verge of becoming only the sixth Kiwi player to reach the 1000-run mark in T20I cricket. He also holds the record for the fasted T20I hundred for New Zealand when he smashed 108 runs off 51 balls against West Indies in 2020. He reached the 100-run mark off just 46 balls, the fifth-fastest century in men’s T20Is.
He also made his maiden ODI appearance last month against Ireland. In the format, he has so far scored 110 runs and took three wickets in five matches so far. He also featured in a Test match against Australia in Sydney two years ago but is facing a lot of competition in the red-ball team. He is one of the few cricketers who can bat, bowl, and don wicketkeeping gloves.
