Nicholas Pooran is set to play all three formats for Windies again
Darren Bravo has also been allowed to return to the International circuit.
Windian wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran is all set to feature in all three formats of the game for the national side. At the start of 2016-17 season, he was suspended by Cricket Windies for playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) despite being picked by a team that features in Windies’ Professional Premier League. The 21-year-old has served his suspension and is all set to make a comeback in the national jersey after making a truce with the board.
Pooran played for President’s XI that took on Afghanistan last month in St. Kitts. Not only Pooran but a majority of the ‘cream-of-the-crop’ players opted to avoid playing for the national team owing to remuneration disputes. But the board is working on settling the disputes. Players like Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine featured in the one-off T20I against India.
“The parties (Nicholas Pooran and Cricket Windies) jointly state that following bilateral good faith discussions, they have decided to settle this matter amicably. The parties add that they are both committed to the development of West Indies Cricket at all levels and continue to have those interests uppermost in their minds,” said an official statement from the Windian cricket board.
Darren Bravo is pardoned
Windian stalwart batsman Darren Bravo is all set to return to the International arena again after he was pardoned by the board. Bravo bashed Cricket Windies’ President Dave Cameron with a tweet. But after issuing an apology, he has been allowed to return to action again.
“Darren is a senior cricketer who has been a valuable part of the Windies set up for a long time, and I would hope to see his game continue to progress and mature, at both regional and international level,” said President Dave Cameroon regarding the incident.
