Team India continued their dominating run in the limited overs cricket with yet another convincing win. The Men in Blue beat team Bangladesh in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy 2018. The match was the last league game for the Rohit Sharma-led side. Now, with the win, the team is through to the finals. In the finals, they will play the winner of the match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

With the way they have performed in the series thus far, after the initial blip in the series opener, team India certainly do look like the favorites to win the series. Commenting on their most recent win, the team thumped Bangladesh by 17 runs. Earlier in the game, the Bangladeshi skipper had won the toss and asked the Indian team to bat first.

After a solid opening start, the team found some impetus from the willow of Suresh Raina (47). Meanwhile, it was Rohit Sharma’s guiding 89 that helped India finish with 176 runs on the board. In the run chase, Washington Sundar dented the opposition top order. Barring Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, no other Bangladeshi batsman could show resilience.

Rahim’s knock did prove to give a brief scare to the Indian side. He scored an unbeaten 72 on the day. But, eventually, the Indian team sealed the game to march in to the finals.

Here are the India Player Ratings for the match:

1. Rohit Sharma – 8.5/10

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma arrived in to the game under tremendous pressure. After having failed in all the previous outings in the series, he was expected to get back in form soon. Rohit managed to do so and ended up playing an anchoring knock of 89 runs. His knock, however, came at a sluggish pace.

It was only in the final overs when he actually took off and decided to up the ante. He played 61 deliveries for his 89 and hit five fours and as many number of sixes. With the captaincy hat on, Rohit was to the point with his quick shuffling of bowlers to not let the opposition settle down.

2. Shikhar Dhawan – 6/10

Shikhar Dhawan continued to bat in fine form. He has been the most consistent batsman for the Indian side in the series thus far. He scored a decent 35 off 27 balls. He added 70 runs for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma and played a key role in forming a firm base for a decent total on the day.

3. Suresh Raina – 7.5/10

Suresh Raina, much like Rohit Sharma, was expected to perform on the night. Ever since his comeback to the side, he has been waiting for the one big knock to leave an imprint on the selectors. Well, the big knock is  yet to arrive. In this game, he showed a glimpse of it though. He scored a quick 47 off just 30 deliveries to give some serious impetus to the Indian side in the final overs.

4. Dinesh Karthik – 6/10

Dinesh Karthik’s services with the bat were not much needed on the day. He arrived at the crease in the final over of the Indian innings and got just a couple of deliveries to face. With the gloves, Karthik’s work was impressive. He even had a stumping to his name that saw Liton Das head back to the pavilion cheaply.

5. Manish Pandey – Not Assigned

Manish Pandey did not get a chance to bat on the day since the Indian top order did all the scoring. On the field, he had a decent time.

6. KL Rahul – Not Assigned

Much like Manish Pandey, even the services of KL Rahul were not needed on the day in the batting department. In the fielding camp, Rahul had a decent time in the middle.

7. Washington Sundar – 9/10

Washington Sundar was the pick of all bowlers on the night. Sundar returned with brilliant figures of 3/22 in the four overs that he bowled. He started off on a high by dismissing Liton Das in the very first over that he bowled. In his next over, he dismissed Soumya Sarkar. In the third over that he bowled, he accounted for the big wicket of Tamim Iqbal. In the final over, at a crunch situation, he only gave away 4 runs.

8. Vijay Shankar – 4/10

Vijay Shankar did not get an opportunity to bat yet again. With the ball, he fared up decently enough to complete his quota of four overs. He went wicketless on the night. But, he did ensure that the runs did not leak out easily. He returned with figures of 0/28 in the four overs that he bowled.

9. Yuzvendra Chahal – 8/10

In the previous fixtures of the series, Yuzvendra Chahal had only looked like a shadow of what he had promised to be. But on this night, Chahal bowled exceptionally well. He finished with figures of 1/21 in his quota of four overs. He accounted for the dismissal of the opposition skipper. His figures would have been even better had the last ball of his spell not gone for a six.

10. Mohammed Siraj – 2/10

Mohammed Siraj got a look in in this game at the expense of Jaydev Unadkat. The Hyderabad pacer was expected to grab his opportunity with both hands. But much to his disappointment, he ended up leaking a lot of runs. He gave away as many as 50 runs in his quota of four overs. He got the consolation wicket of Mehidy Hasan in the final over the game.

11. Shardul Thakur – 4/10

Shardul Thakur seriously needs to address his skills with the ball in the shortest format. He has been leaking runs and that is a cause of concern for the team. Thakur gave away 37 runs in the four overs that he bowled on the day. The team certainly expects a much more economical spell from him. He took the wicket of Sabbir Rahman in the match.
