After a dramatic win in the final league match, Bangladesh qualified to the final of the Nidahas Trophy where they will face India. Bangladesh lost both the game in league stage against India but defeated Sri Lanka in both the games that were decided in the final over. India registered three consecutive wins in the tournament after starting with a defeat against the home team. India got better by every game in this tournament as they ticked all the boxes starting from bowling depth and middle order vows to their captain Rohit Sharma’s form.
All the stats and numbers to be looked out ahead of the Nidahas Trophy final:
1 – Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India won seven out of eight T20Is they played losing only once. Interestingly, Shakib Al Hasan lost six out of six T20Is in which he led Bangladesh before the previous game against Sri Lanka.
3 – Bangladesh won three of their previous 17 games in the T20I format. All the three wins for Bangladesh came against Sri Lanka and all at the RPS in Colombo.
4 – Number of Twenty20 finals as captain for Rohit Sharma. He led Mumbai Indians in three IPL finals and one CLT20 final. Rohit’s team was on the winning side in all those four games. Shakib Al Hasan also captained in four T20 finals with a win-loss record of 2-2.
4 – Bangladesh featured in four tournament finals before Nidahas Trophy – 3 in ODI format and 1 in T20I cricket. The Bangladesh team lost all those four tournament finals.
61.16 – Suresh Raina’s batting average in the Twenty20 tournament finals. Raina scored 367 runs in 11 innings at an S/R of 159.56 with one century and two fifties. His average is the highest among the players with 250+ runs in T20 finals.
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 193 runs in eight T20 finals at an average of 27.57 and an S/R of 140.87. He scored only one fifty in those eight innings for which he was awarded the man of the match award.
190 – Runs Mushfiqur Rahim scored in the tournament so far. He is the 2nd leading run-getter of the tournament behind Kushal Perera (204). Rahim’s 190 runs are the 2nd most by a Bangladesh player in a T20I series/tournament after Tamim Iqbal’s 295 runs in the 2016 WT20.
996 – Mahmudullah Riyad needs four more runs to become the 4th Bangladesh player to score 1000 runs in the T20I format. Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in the previous game have completed 1000 T20I runs for Bangladesh.
