After an emphatic win against the hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh will be taking on India tonight in the Nidahas Trophy. With some really tough competition to get a place in the finals, it is important for both these teams to do well in today’s game. If India wins this game, they will book the first berth in the finals and don’t have to depend on any other factors.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be looking to seal this game which will make them really strong contenders for the finals. If in case Bangladesh wins this game, India’s chances will depend upon the last game of the tournament between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. However, even before the game commences, there is a huge threat that is looming around.
A possible delayed start due to rain
The rain is expected to play a spoil-sport in today’s game. A heavy afternoon thunderstorm is predicted today according to AccuWeather and the rain might carry on until the evening. It was a similar case in the game between India and Sri Lanka. The game had to be cut short by an overdue to the delayed start. Toss for such games plays a crucial part and the team that wins the toss will look to bowl first.
There are fairly good chances of rain throughout the play today. The percentage of chances of rain increases from 43% to 51% from 6 PM to 7 PM. To make things worse, it still remains at 47% at 8 PM and it is expected to settle down thereafter. A washout will not affect India much as they will qualify for the finals. But, it will make things tough for Bangladesh. They will then have to win the last game against Sri Lanka at any cost. But a washout, however, is highly unlikely.
Overall Verdict: Rain will definitely come into play in today’s game. DLS method might be used and there is a good chance that some overs will be lost.
