Nidahas Trophy 2018: Shakib Al Hasan allegedly calls back his players
Shakib calls off his batsmen after a controversial decision.
The Nidahas Trophy 2018 which is a tri-nation contest involving the host Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh teams has reached its finishing stages and the all the matches so far have been contested in full spirits of the game. The visiting Indian team had already qualified for the finals of the tri-series by winning 3 out of their 4 matches.
Whereas in the sixth match of the tournament, the Lankans were facing the Bangladeshi Tigers in the virtual semi-final match to reckon which team would be successfully fixing a finale meeting with India on Sunday. But a horrendous and unsporting incident took place during the T20I match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, which was surely not worth ignoring for the spectators and the world watching the match.
Shakib calls off his batsmen after a controversial decision
The regular Bangladeshi captain Shakib Al Hasan returned to the national side after recovering from the finger injury to lead his team in the important game of the tri-nation series. After winning the toss, Shakib decided to bowl first and his bowlers accompanied their captain’s decision pretty outstandingly.
The Lankans were reduced to 41-5 within 9 overs, which resulted in a tensing moment for the host team to secure their chances for the final match. But the in-form Kusal Perera and stand-in skipper Thisara Perera stitched around for a defiant 97-run stand, which helped them post a fighting total of 159-7 in the 20 overs.
Whereas, Bangladesh also suffered a middle-order collapse, after some hard work done by the experienced Tamim Iqbal who scored a fifty. Bangladesh required 12 runs off the last over and thus qualify for the finals of the tri-series. But there were some devastating scenes from the ground during the second delivery of the penultimate over. Fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was adjudged run-out after he failed to snatch a run. However, the Bangladeshi team believed that the second delivery looked to be a no-ball.
The Lankan bowler Isuru Udana bowled two bouncers in his first two deliveries of the last over, but the on-field umpires never ruled either of the balls as a no-ball, which allowed some serious chaotic incidents resulting on the field after the decision. The Bangladeshi skipper Shakib also got involved in a serious argument with the officials off the field regarding the no-ball controversial call not given in the favour of the Tigers team. He then allegedly was seen calling back his on-field players which looked as an attempt to call off the match due to the controversial no-ball decision.
Mahmudullah stuns the home team
After the calming of the disrupting scenes, Mahmudullah played a remarkable inning as he smacked the required 12 runs in the next three balls, to take his team past the finishing line successfully. The entire Bangladesh team erupted in joy and the celebrations followed in some innovative styles from the winning team. The Tigers would now be facing India in the final match of the tri-series on Sunday.
