The Nidahas Trophy for the T20 triangular series featuring Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh recently came to a close. The Final was played between India and Bangladesh, however, Rohit Sharma’s men emerged victorious in a cliffhanger at the iconic R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Nevertheless, the game didn’t go down well for the Bangladesh cricketers.

Apart from losing the game, they also had to encounter the wrath of the public for their unsportsmanlike behavior. After their last league game against Sri Lanka, Tamim Iqbal apologized for their wrongdoings. They performed well but tantalizingly fell short. After the defeat, Rubel Hossain rolled out an apology for his horrendous over where he was carted across the park.

The agony for Soumya Sarkar

Recently, Soumya Sarkar, who bowled the final over, expressed his disappointment to the media. He was entrusted to bowl the over with twelve runs required. He bowled fair decently. However, he succumbed to the pressure when he dished out a juicy half-volley for Dinesh Karthik to smash. Meanwhile, Sarkar admitted to the fact that he isn’t used to bowling in pressure-cooker situations.

“I bowled before, but I never bowled in such a vital situation. After bowling in this kind of situation, now I have the confidence that I can bowl at any moment and in any situation. Our players are finally getting used to the T20 cricket. We used to lose matches by a big margin. But now we are scoring 200 runs, chasing down the targets.” Sarkar said.

He also vented his dejection for not being able to make his countrymen smile. “When I was crying in the dressing room, I became very emotional. As time was passing by, I was thinking more about it. I will forever regret whenever I will start thinking about this. If I could have bowled better, then 16 crore people could have smiled.” he added.
